Making Decisions On Sunroom Windows
If you are adding a sunroom onto your house, or planning to replace existing sunroom windows in your home you have a lot of options available to you. There are a number of things to consider when making your choice.
Options
First of all, there are a number of different types of glass you can choose from and this is something you should research before choosing. You can also choose a tinted glass or add a tinted film that will help reduce glare and provide a little bit of protection to your furniture and other items in the sunroom.
Depending on your plans for how you want to use your sunroom and what the climate is like where you live, you might choose from a few different options on what kind of sunroom windows to go with. For the barest, most natural feel in your sunroom you can even go with simple screening, which will keep bugs out and give you the feel of a room, but still allow you to enjoy the sounds and breeze of nature.
If you would like your sunroom to feel more like a room than a porch you might choose glass paneling that will provide protection from the elements. However, keep in mind that single paneling will not provide insulation, so if it is hot out, it will be hot in your sunroom and if it is cold, you will only have what warmth the sun can provide.
Double paned glass sunroom windows are the only option to go with if you plan to have temperature control. You would not want to heat or air condition a room that had single paned glass or, certainly, just screen windows. Double glazing will provide insulation for keeping the temperature regulated in your sunroom.
When you have your sunroom windows in place you need to think about dressing them. Do you want to have some kind of curtains? Curtains can help contribute to the dcor and add a softening influence on your sunroom. Of course they are also helpful for when you want privacy or to shut out the light, but many people dont want heavy curtains in their sunroom.
If you want to regulate light coming into your sunroom but dont want to have curtains there are all kinds of different blinds you can use. The best are those that can be drawn up and are small enough to be barely visible, but still contribute to regulation of light in the room when needed.
Because your sunroom is made up of windows it is quite important that you get the right kind of windows. While you may have to work within a budget, also keep in mind that there are other factors to consider, such as whether you will use the room more as an indoor porch or as an additional room in the house. These considerations are important before you make your decisions. If you need to, consider saving up for double glazing instead of getting something that will save you money short term but may be disappointing in the long run.
